YOUR HAPPY MOMENT

I am delighted to be a part of the EAD Insider and  would like to take this opportunity to reflect on my most recent happy experience and relevant milestones of my professional journey through my privileged position as the Director of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG).

In the last 7 years, I have had the opportunity to collaborate and work with many business leaders and sustainability campaigners, with diverse groups and teams, and 50 of the largest and most prominent organisations that form the membership of the ADSG. This required me to become a change leader and work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders aimed towards realising the Group’s strategic direction; integrating sustainability governance to achieve impact.

As we are all collectively working towards the common goal of building a sustainable future for Abu Dhabi, I believe strongly in the spirit of collaboration and the value of engagement on establishing strategic partnerships with likeminded individuals and partners.

One of my proudest moments for the Group has been the launch of the ADSG Sustainable Business Leadership Forum and Awards, which has now been running successfully for the last 6 years, as a key platform to recognise the efforts towards championing sustainability in Abu Dhabi, and to celebrate sustainability achievements within our community, by our community, to motivate, to engage and reward organisations in our region who are making outstanding advances towards sustainability. This is even more important when we consider the global and regional backdrop of severe economic, environmental and social challenges.

Another truly unforgettable experience in my career has been my involvement as part of the Environment Agency delegation to COP21 in Paris in December 2015, where historic agreements took place and marked a departure from the old ways of business, with a paradigm shift to deliver the future we need. Climate change cannot wait… advocacy, investment and action are needed now. Innovation is the key. Innovation not only in what we make, but also in how we think. I would like to conclude by extending my gratitude to my biggest supporter, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, for their leadership and guidance through these years, for the benefit of sustainable growth in Abu Dhabi.
