HIGHLIGHTS OF THE MONTH
After two years, Al Barza brings us together

After two years, the Human Resources Division (HR) team welcomed EAD employees to the first Al Barza gathering. HR team listened to the employees’ concerns and queries. This annual event aims to engage with EAD employees, hear from them, and provide the latest HR updates. This year the gathering was held in EAD HQ, Al Hur Rooms & in Al Dhafra office. Employees were updated on the HR procedures. They were happy with the session and found it very informative. They had the opportunity to ask the HR team questions.

EAD celebrates Emirati Women’s Day

On Emirati Women’s Day, The Public Relations and Communications Division (PRC) organised a panel discussion with three amazing female EAD employees, Suzan Al Ghanem, Maitha Al Hameli, and Nouf Al Qadi.

The discussion revolved around this year’s theme of “Inspiring reality, Sustainable Future” and our colleagues shared their input on sustainability and how to balance it in various aspects of life.

The Emirati Women’s Day also had participation from two Down syndrome employees from the Zayed Higher Organization for Humanities. They participated by displaying a flower booth made by them and selling flowers to attendees. In addition, a photo booth for attendees helped create memories of this special day.

Volunteers promote the Single-Use Plastic Policy

Our youth volunteers visited baqalas/small supermarkets across several neighborhoods in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to spread awareness of the Single-Use Plastic Policy and encouraged the baqalas/small groceries to switch to reusable alternatives.

Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals

From 30 July to 5 August our team from TMBS, Noora Al Balooshi, and Maitha Al Hameli attended the Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals.

The Society for Marine Mammalogy (SMM) was founded in San Francisco during the 4th Biennial Conference in 1981 and is the largest global organisation of individuals interested in marine mammal research and conservation. The mission of the SMM is to promote the global advancement of marine mammal science and contribute to its relevance and impact in education, science, conservation, and management. The SMM holds its conference every two years to promote science, collaboration and improve the quality of research on marine mammals around the globe.

EAD attends the conference regularly to present their recent studies/research and network and connect with marine mammal scientists in various fields. The team presented and attended workshops on multiple topics of interest, such as advancements in environmental DNA (eDNA) in the marine mammal field, as well advancements and innovative techniques in marine mammal acoustics. This year there were over 1 800 scientists / researchers participated in the conference.
